Rose suffers an esophageal spasm and winds up in the hospital. She has been doing far too much lately, more than any person could handle, and it finally catches up with her. Thankfully, it was just a minor incident and she’ll be fine. But she tells Dorothy and Blanche that she died and went to Heaven. She vows to live life from now on without taking anything for granted. She decides gets a new group of friends who share her new enthusiasm for life. But she starts driving everyone else crazy. She gets phone calls in the middle of the night and her new friends drop in all the time. Blanche and Dorothy try to confront Rose and make her see reason but they get into a big argument and Rose says she’s moving out.
At first, she loves her new place. It’s a beautiful apartment right on the beach. But she later comes to realize that it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. Rose’s roommates aren’t close to her like Dorothy and Blanche are. As Liz said, they’re just roommates, not friends. Dorothy and Blanche stop by the new place to see her. They leave after Rose says she loves it, though it’s clear by this time she doesn’t, they don’t want to interfere and wish her well. Rose, feeling terribly dejected and alone, soon decides to move back. And the girls are able to pick right back up where they left off.
