Dorothy’s friend Jean comes to town. Dorothy wonders whether she should tell Blanche and Rose that Jean is gay. Jean says if they’re the kind of people who can handle it to go ahead and tell them. She’s not embarrassed to be who she is. She and Rose get especially friendly when they find out they have a common bond from the time they grew up. They spend a lot of time together. But Jean ends up falling in love with Rose. Dorothy tries to get advice from Sophia and Blanche ends up overhearing. Blanche finds out Jean is gay and everyone now knows except for Rose.

Jean eventually tells Rose how she feels. Rose doesn’t quite know how to react and the conversation ends there. Jean makes plans to leave but apologizes to Rose for putting her in an awkward situation. Rose tells Jean that she doesn’t understand those feelings. But if she did, she’d feel flattered and proud that Jean would think of her in that way. Jean decides to stay and the two can remain friends.
