The girls go to see a psychiatrist. They’ve been having major issues getting along lately and have been at each other’s throats quite a bit. We see multiple flashback scenes. First, we see a flashback to when Dorothy had the flu. She had previously promised to double date with Blanche. She obviously can’t now but Blanche insists that she still go on the date. We also see a hilarious mixup involving Rose botching putting Dorothy’s help wanted ad in the newspaper. Then we see a look back at Rose and Blanche bothering Dorothy while she’s trying to study.

Finally, we see an example of Sophia being consulted for advice, which she says she’s grown tired of. The psychiatrist ultimately determines that the four are just not compatible and should go their separate ways as soon as possible. The girls talk it over. Sophia tells a story that’s actually about the four of them and set in the present day. She makes them realize that they may get on each other’s nerves but it’s all part of life. The girls decide to stay together. And they do what they would go on to do many more times, share quality time over cheesecake.
