Rose’s aunt Gretchen dies and Rose is devastated; not at her passing, she couldn’t stand her. Her aunt used to scare her all the time, apparently for no reason. Rose is upset because she has to give the eulogy. She’s always been deathly afraid of public speaking. The girls try and help her through it. It’s revealed that Dorothy was afraid of flying, and we later find out never really got over that. Blanche was afraid of a recurring dream where she’s trapped in an enclosed space with bald men. Rose feels she can only get through giving the eulogy if Dorothy and Blanche go with her. There’s just one problem, the funeral is being held in The Caribbean where Gretchen spent her winters.

They take the plane ride down. Dorothy is nervous as can be, but starts to relax when the flight is going perfectly fine (and the two glasses of champagne helped too). Blanche isn’t doing as well, considering most of the people on the plane are bald men. As it turns out, the plane finds itself right in the path of a tropical storm and they have to turn back. Rose gives her speech on the plane. She realizes that Aunt Gretchen was most likely trying to help Rose not be scared. All is well now. They’ve all conquered their fears. Sophia enters a cooking contest; but her opponent dies in the middle of it. One guess who Sophia volunteers to give the eulogy.
