Blanche goes to the doctor. He expresses concern over her heart activity. She wears a holter monitor and has to record everything she does. If everything is as bad as he thinks, she’ll end up having to check into the hospital to have a pacemaker put in. Blanche is understandably terrified. Rose has to test out weight loss products for work. As it turns out, they don’t work so she decides to go on the St. Olaf I-Can’t-Believe-This-Is-Cheese diet. Blanche checks in to the hospital. She’s nervous, but Rose and the rest of the girls try and put her at ease by singing her a “lullaby.”

Blanche has her surgery but seems to change after having it. She’s not as interested in the physical side of her life anymore. She claims to have had an out-of-body experience. She is afraid to get back into that part of her life again. She announces that she’s giving up sex altogether. Blanche has been dating Simon. He’s been patient and understanding. Blanche breaks it off with him. He asks for one last kiss. Blanche thought she was having a palpitation, but it turns out she’s fine. And she and Simon go on seeing each other.
