Rose asks Dorothy to go with her and she reluctantly does. Sophia is furious when she finds out Dorothy went to the track. She promised her mother she’d never go to the track again. She reminds Dorothy about the problem Sal had with gambling. Dorothy assures her she’s not falling back into her old addiction. Blanche goes out with Donald who is the museum’s new curator. They have a wonderful time and go back to his place. She comes home and says that she saw his bathrobe and slipped into it and took it off when she got out of the bathroom. When Donald saw her, he said he was going to take her home. Blanche is mortified and thinks she’ll never be able to go back to work. It turned out to be a misunderstanding and they’ll be able to go out again in the future.
Dorothy has indeed started gambling again. She even misses a job interview because of it. She starts getting in over her head when she places numerous bets that she can’t cover. She even tries to cheat Rose out of money to pay her debt. But Rose knew all along what she was doing. She tells Dorothy that she had hoped she’d have trouble taking advantage of someone who cared for her as much as Rose does. Dorothy finally admits she needs help. She goes back to Gamblers Anonymous. She once thought she would never have to say that again. But she vows to take things day by day and hopefully never gamble again.
