Dorothy has been seeing Ken, a very successful lawyer. They really like each other and Sophia is crazy about him. He’s handsome, caring, and is a clown on the side using his free time to help others. Ken calls and says he has something “very important” he wants to talk to Dorothy about. Blanche convinces Dorothy that he’s going to pop the question. But he doesn’t. He’s giving up law to be a full-time clown. Dorothy is shocked but supportive nonetheless.
Rose is upset because she saw a dolphin entangled in a tuna fisherman’s net. She mentions that thousands of dolphin die each year that way. Rose wants to do something. Blanche is hesitant to get involved but eventually does. They go to a dock to protest. A scuffle occurs on the dock and everyone is dragged into court. Ken comes to represent the girls’ side but there’s just one problem. He came right from rehearsal for the circus and is in his clown suit. Despite this, he makes a very impassioned speech and is able to get the case dismissed. After, Dorothy calls it quits with Ken. She says he’s a lovable man but she doesn’t love him. Ken understands and the two part as friends.
